Finding friends as an adult living in a new country can be incredibly challenging. You might feel the pressure to fit in while also staying true to your authentic self. It's common to experience isolation and homesickness, making the process of building a social network seem daunting.

Join us for an afterwork event that is designed specifically for expats in Sweden who are navigating these challenges.

Expect a fun and interactive environment like an afterwork with the facilitation and guided self-reflection of the workshop.

Our goal is to help you understand the difficulties of making friends as an adult abroad, provide practical strategies to enhance your mental well-being, and create a supportive environment where you can share your experiences and network with others in similar situations.

Timings:

Doors open at 17:00  -  Grab a coffee/tea and something to eat as you get to meet other participants and get comfortable.

Workshop starts at 17:20

Agenda:

• Introduction to frienships as an adult : Meaning of friendship as an adult; Fitting in v/s belonging; Pretty & ugly sides of making friends as an expat
• Building authentic connections: Personal identity & authenticity, strategies to form connections
• Speed-friending: Guided, short, timed conversations to put into practise the tips from the workshop and quickly connect with new people.

Food & drinks:

Plenty of coffee and a variety of tea.

There will also be some snacks and fika for everyone, if you have any special dietary needs, please indicate on the registration page.

About the Facilitator:

Hey, I'm Vini,  a mental health professional from India, working with expats and immigrants in Sweden. As an immigrant, I have experienced the struggles of finding friends. It can be lonely and challenging but I'm here to guide you through this with insights from psychology and the collective experience.
